🟣 This Week in VC Marketing

Biweekly marketing lens for venture capital firms.

How can you stand out as a VC?

I have a very special interview dropping next week with an incredible marketer of a VC firm. Stay tuned.

For this week, I’m sharing a checklist on how to know if your VC firm’s content is on point. Here ya go:

Branding

  • Does your homepage clearly describe your firm's value proposition?

  • Can your visitors list the sectors or investment themes you want to be recognized as an expert in?

  • Are you using clear and consistent branding (logos, colors, fonts) across all content formats?

  • Do you highlight results, milestones, or achievements that demonstrate your firm's credibility and success?

  • Do you have a FAQ section addressing common questions from startups and potential partners?

Strategy

  • Is there a clear strategy behind the content you post, aligned with your firm's goals?

  • Do you align your content distribution strategy with the consumption habits of your target audience (e.g., preferred social media platforms, content formats)?

  • Do you have a content calendar to ensure consistent and strategic content distribution of new and old content?

  • Are you conducting regular audience research to understand their changing needs, preferences, and pain points?

Engagement & Communication

  • Are you monitoring and responding to comments and messages on your social media platforms?

  • Are your social profiles active and engaging, with relevant followings?

  • Do you post content on social media and your blog regularly? (more than once a week)

  • Are you utilizing multimedia content (videos, podcasts, infographics) to enhance engagement and reach?

  • Do you engage in content partnerships or guest blogging to expand your audience and increase credibility?

🟣 For the founders: A brief overview of how Robinhood got its first customers

Last year I worked with a founder and helped them get 1 million impressions across 3 posts.

I wanted to share with you what we did to do that, because:

Amazing content β‰  immediate growth.

That’s a part of it, yes. But not the whole story.

And there’s one REALLY important thing that helped a lot (no, not the hook).

Here’s the story.
